Successfully Launching De Zeven Online: Cape Winelands Luxury Lodge Marketing

Posted by Lizanne du Plessis on June 12, 2023

Launching a new destination in the competitive tourism landscape of the Cape Winelands is no easy task — especially with so many established names nearby. But at Eco Africa Digital, we thrive on turning challenges into success stories. Our marketing journey with De Zeven began with a shared vision: to create a digital presence as breathtaking and authentic as the lodge itself. What followed was a deeply collaborative launch that brought the spirit of De Zeven to life online.

Meeting the Challenge: Standing Out in a Saturated Market

Launching a new luxury lodge in the bustling Cape Winelands, especially nestled between tourism heavyweights like Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, was no small feat. But from our first encounter with De Zeven, we knew it had something extraordinary to offer — and we were excited to bring that story to life online.

Brand Immersion and Digital Strategy

We began by spending valuable time on-site with the passionate owners of De Zeven. This helped us deeply understand the essence of the lodge: locally owned, thoughtfully designed, and situated in the breathtaking Banhoek Valley. This human connection laid the foundation for our digital strategy.

With insights in hand, our team at Eco Africa Digital mapped out a 6-month strategic launch plan. This included building a contemporary, responsive website, setting up visually stunning social media channels, and curating content that highlighted De Zeven’s unique charm, from its panoramic views to its personalized guest experience.

Visual Storytelling That Works

To truly capture De Zeven’s magic, we organized several days of professional photography and drone videography. These visual assets were the cornerstone of our storytelling, allowing potential guests to experience the lodge’s ambiance before even stepping foot on the property.

In just six months, De Zeven’s digital presence blossomed. We built a community of over 3,400 Facebook followers and 3,100 Instagram followers, driven by authentic storytelling and visual impact. But more than just numbers, we sparked engagement, connection, and genuine curiosity.

Looking Ahead: From Awareness to Bookings

Today, we continue our journey with De Zeven, evolving strategies to drive direct bookings and long-term brand growth. The goal now is to turn awareness into action — and we’re honored to still be part of that story.

At Eco Africa Digital, we believe that behind every great lodge or destination lies a story worth telling — and De Zeven’s story has only just begun. We’re proud to help shine a digital light on a place created with heart, vision, and deep respect for its land and heritage.

How Tourism and Conservation Brands Can Use AI Without Losing Their Human Story

May 21, 2026

There's a dangerous misunderstanding taking hold in digital marketing: that AI means replacing human storytelling with automated content. For conservation brands especially, that's exactly the wrong instinct. AI should make the human story easier to find and easier to act on — and nowhere is that more obvious than at Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary in Mpumalanga.
